Ils \u00e9coutaient attentivement le formateur <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/thomas-mukhwana\/?originalSubdomain=ke\">Tom Mukhwana,<\/a> depuis <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bing.com\/search?pglt=41&amp;q=africa+uncensored&amp;cvid=6394ba6f4ed942daace8c69936c3ae0d&amp;gs_lcrp=EgRlZGdlKgYIABBFGDkyBggAEEUYOTIGCAEQLhhAMgYIAhAuGEAyBggDEAAYQDIGCAQQABhAMgYIBRAuGEAyBggGEC4YQDIGCAcQABhAMgYICBAuGEAyCAgJEOkHGPxV0gEINDExMWowajGoAgCwAgA&amp;FORM=ANNAB1&amp;PC=U531\">L&#039;Afrique sans censure,<\/a> Un organe de presse kenyan a partag\u00e9 son exp\u00e9rience de la promotion d\u2019un changement de politique \u00e0 travers son article sur le viol conjugal au Kenya. La traduction simultan\u00e9e en anglais et en fran\u00e7ais a incarn\u00e9 le principe \u00ab ne laisser personne de c\u00f4t\u00e9 \u00bb, car tous les journalistes ont pu s\u2019identifier \u00e0 ce qui \u00e9tait discut\u00e9.<\/p><p>Les journalistes faisaient partie des b\u00e9n\u00e9ficiaires de la <a href=\"https:\/\/ukwelicoalition.org\/\">Centre des m\u00e9dias de la coalition Ukweli,<\/a> un centre qui renforce les capacit\u00e9s des journalistes d\u2019Afrique de l\u2019Est et de la r\u00e9gion des Grands Lacs, en encourageant la collaboration crois\u00e9e sur les sujets de la r\u00e9gion.<\/p><p>Le voyage du hub a commenc\u00e9 en mars 2023, lors d&#039;une conf\u00e9rence d&#039;un de nos partenaires, le <a href=\"https:\/\/fojo.se\/en\/\">Institut Fojo<\/a> sur le \u00ab journalisme durable \u00bb \u00e0 Nairobi, au Kenya. Le fondateur du hub, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/armel-gilbert-bukeyeneza-380529128?originalSubdomain=ke\">Gilbert Armel Bukeyeneza<\/a>, journaliste et consultant m\u00e9dia qui a fui le Burundi en 2016, a d\u00e9velopp\u00e9 le d\u00e9sir de former une nouvelle g\u00e9n\u00e9ration de journalistes apr\u00e8s avoir r\u00e9alis\u00e9 que le journalisme durable \u00e9tait en grande partie th\u00e9orique en Afrique de l&#039;Est.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-1300096 elementor-widget elementor-widget-image\" data-id=\"1300096\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"image.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" width=\"571\" height=\"673\" src=\"https:\/\/charmafrica.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/iw5gljc8.png\" class=\"attachment-medium_large size-medium_large wp-image-1419\" alt=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/charmafrica.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/iw5gljc8.png 571w, https:\/\/charmafrica.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/iw5gljc8-255x300.png 255w, https:\/\/charmafrica.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/iw5gljc8-10x12.png 10w, https:\/\/charmafrica.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/iw5gljc8-551x650.png 551w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 571px) 100vw, 571px\" \/>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-bf238e8 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"bf238e8\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>\u00ab J\u2019ai toujours \u00e9t\u00e9 pr\u00e9occup\u00e9 par la fragilit\u00e9 des m\u00e9dias et du journalisme dans ma r\u00e9gion. Au Burundi, les r\u00e9dactions ferment souvent en raison des menaces s\u00e9curitaires et de nombreux journalistes abandonnent la profession en raison de la faiblesse de leurs salaires. Plus d\u2019une centaine de journalistes ont fui le Burundi il y a pr\u00e8s de dix ans apr\u00e8s la destruction des principaux m\u00e9dias priv\u00e9s du pays, et beaucoup luttent encore pour survivre en exil. Mon souhait est de m\u2019assurer qu\u2019ils soient non seulement \u00e9quip\u00e9s pour \u00e9crire des articles de fond, mais aussi qu\u2019ils restent en s\u00e9curit\u00e9 pendant qu\u2019ils le font \u00bb, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 Gilbert Armel Bukeyeneza, fondateur d\u2019Ukweli Coalition Media Hub.<\/p><p>Il s\u2019int\u00e9resse particuli\u00e8rement \u00e0 la r\u00e9gion des Grands Lacs, \u00e0 des pays comme le Burundi, la R\u00e9publique d\u00e9mocratique du Congo (RDC) et le Rwanda, qui ont \u00e9t\u00e9 mis \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9cart en raison de leur histoire francophone commune, contrairement \u00e0 l\u2019Afrique de l\u2019Est \u00e0 pr\u00e9dominance anglophone. \u00ab Tout au long de l\u2019histoire, leurs destins ont \u00e9t\u00e9 profond\u00e9ment li\u00e9s, souvent de mani\u00e8re tragique. L\u2019instabilit\u00e9 politique, les crises et les conflits dans un pays ont in\u00e9vitablement des r\u00e9percussions sur toute la r\u00e9gion. Les journalistes et les m\u00e9dias, pris entre deux feux, sont souvent parmi les plus vuln\u00e9rables, op\u00e9rant dans un environnement marqu\u00e9 par la volatilit\u00e9 politique, l\u2019instabilit\u00e9 \u00e9conomique et des menaces constantes pour la s\u00e9curit\u00e9. Malheureusement, cette situation pr\u00e9caire oblige la population locale \u00e0 s\u2019appuyer sur des m\u00e9dias sous-financ\u00e9s, les journalistes \u00e9tant souvent aux prises avec des d\u00e9fis \u00e9thiques et des risques personnels \u00bb, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 Gilbert Armel Bukeyeneza, fondateur d\u2019Ukweli Coalition Media Hub.<\/p><p>Lors de la conf\u00e9rence de l\u2019Institut Fojo, Gilbert avait un objectif : sensibiliser les gens aux conditions d\u00e9sastreuses auxquelles sont confront\u00e9s les journalistes dans la r\u00e9gion des Grands Lacs. Arm\u00e9 d\u2019histoires de d\u00e9termination, de r\u00e9silience et de courage, il a attir\u00e9 l\u2019attention et a interpell\u00e9 tous ceux qui voulaient l\u2019\u00e9couter. Sa passion a \u00e9t\u00e9 aliment\u00e9e par les journalistes qui continuent de pers\u00e9v\u00e9rer malgr\u00e9 d\u2019\u00e9normes d\u00e9fis. Avec le soutien d\u2019Africa Uncensored, un m\u00e9dia d\u2019investigation kenyan, Ukweli a pu se lancer avec une grande expertise et une grande exp\u00e9rience \u00e0 l\u2019appui de sa vision. L\u2019une des principales ambitions d\u2019Ukweli est de combler le foss\u00e9 entre la r\u00e9gion des Grands Lacs et le paysage m\u00e9diatique anglophone d\u2019Afrique de l\u2019Est.<\/p><p>Plus tard en 2023, Bukeyeneza a eu le privil\u00e8ge d&#039;assister \u00e0 la <a href=\"https:\/\/gijn.org\/global-conferences\/#:~:text=The%20Global%20Investigative%20Journalism%20Conference%20is%20the%20world%E2%80%99s,together%20more%20than%208%2C000%20journalists%20from%20130%20countries.\">Conf\u00e9rence mondiale sur le journalisme d&#039;investigation<\/a> Il a particip\u00e9 pour la premi\u00e8re fois \u00e0 la conf\u00e9rence de G\u00f6teborg, en Su\u00e8de, avec le soutien de l&#039;Institut Fojo dans le cadre de CHARM. La conf\u00e9rence lui a laiss\u00e9 une impression durable, en particulier les r\u00e9ussites, la r\u00e9silience et les mod\u00e8les innovants du monde entier.<\/p><p>\u00ab J\u2019en suis ressorti avec deux constats essentiels : la r\u00e9gion des Grands Lacs n\u2019est pas le seul endroit o\u00f9 les m\u00e9dias sont confront\u00e9s \u00e0 d\u2019\u00e9normes d\u00e9fis, et malgr\u00e9 ces d\u00e9fis, il existe un espoir pour un avenir meilleur. Je suis revenu dans la r\u00e9gion plein d\u2019espoir et d\u2019\u00e9nergie, pr\u00eat \u00e0 aller de l\u2019avant avec la vision d\u2019Ukweli.
